First day back at work after vacation, so no time for much commentary.  But Indiana Workforce Development did announce another handful of Strategic Skills Initative (SSI) awards while I was out, linked below:

Each program reflects in-depth, demand driven research and solution development done at the regional level (splitting Indiana into 11 regions).  These are not cookie-cutter programs; in nearly every case, the programming funded under SSI reflects local innovation in bringing employers and public resources together to achieve economic development goals. I strongly suggest that motivated readers of this weblog take a look at what the bleeding edge of workforce development looks like.  (Earlier announcements are linked here.)

In addition, Indiana Workforce Development announced $3 million in grants for Indiana schools to develop Careers Major Academy programs.  Career Majors are one of the best practices that the State has come upon toward improving high school performance by increasing relevance between school studies and the world of work outside of school.
