Quite an interesting commentary (and ongoing blog-dialogue, if you read the comments and follow the blog-links) at The Audacious Epigone, referencing a Fresno Bee article about how the proximity of cheap labor in the Fresno, California area inhibited technological innovation in agriculture for years.

The culture of cheap strikes again…
